Mercedes-Benz CLA 2025 – Design
The upcoming CLA is planned at Mercedes-Benz as a replacement for the A- and B-Classes, which are being phased out. This makes the Mercedes CLA 2025 the new entry point. On the other hand, the planned scope of the CLA is virtually bursting with new technologies and design gimmicks. As the first new vehicle on Mercedes' MMA platform, the CLA is intended to set the course for the future.
The basic design remains in the Mercedes cosmos, of course, and the references to the current CLA are particularly evident at the front with the grille. But at the front there is also the first striking innovation with the continuous light strip above the grille.
The hatchback shape gives the car's by no means small dimensions (4,723 mm x 1,855 mm x 1,468 mm) more sportiness and lightness, but the long wheelbase of 2,790 mm is intended to create plenty of space in the interior. With the numerous small Mercedes stars in the grille, the CLA is definitely an eye-catcher.
At the rear, too, the new CLA doesn't seem so different from the old one at first, until the eye falls on the lighting design. A light strip closes the design bracket to the front of the car and the Mercedes star can also be found in the rear lights.
Mercedes-Benz CLA 2025 – Battery and drive
The new CLA is the first time the CLA has been electrified, but for combustion fans, Mercedes has already announced that a mild hybrid version will follow later. For the electric car that will be released first, Mercedes relies on an 85 kWh battery, which fits very well on the new 800 volt platform. In terms of range, an impressive 792 km are possible in one charge and if you do need to charge, there is 320 kW charging power. This means that charging from 10 to 80% takes only 22 minutes and a range of 325 km can be "refueled" in 10 minutes.
In terms of output, there is up to 260 kW in the top model, the CLA 350 4MATIC EQ, which develops up to 515 Nm of torque. The second model for the market launch achieves 200 kW with 335 Nm of torque. This means that the new CLA sprints from 0 to 100 km/h within 4.9 and 6.7 seconds respectively and has a top speed of 210 km/h. The drive also includes a special, automatic two-speed gearbox on the rear axle. With a short-ratio first gear, the transmission improves starting and ensures a high towing capacity and greater efficiency. This is then also the case at high speeds for second gear. An all-wheel drive variant is also on offer.
Those who prefer a combustion engine will then get a 48V hybrid with four cylinders and one and a half litres of displacement in the new CLA. Unusually for a mild hybrid, the future version of the CLA will also be fully electric. There will be no plug-in hybrid. However, the combustion engine version is not to be launched until the end of the year.
Mercedes-Benz CLA 2025 – Interior and infotainment
In the interior of the new CLA, Mercedes relies heavily on screens as design and control elements. When adding the passenger screen option, almost the entire dashboard consists of screens.
As standard, there are only the digital instruments over 10.25 inches wide and the central screen with 14 inches. For the first time, the new Mercedes operating system (MB. OS), which works heavily with AI to simplify operation. For example, voice commands can also be used to ask general questions to the on-board computer and the assistant is also displayed graphically. In terms of assistance systems, there is the full range of Mercedes options, including the approach to autonomous driving via the additionally bookable MB. Drive system.
